Tahmasp II

Tahmasp II was a Safavid prince who claimed the throne of Iran after the Afghan capture of Isfahan in 1722 brought down his father's rule. The warlord Nader, then known as Nader Qoli, rose to prominence in his service and expelled Afghan, Ottoman and Russian occupiers in his name. Accounts of the Afsharid Empire describe how Nader later set Tahmasp aside and eventually proclaimed himself Shah.
