Taibugids

Also known as Taibugid dynasty

The Taibugids were a dynasty of the Siberian Tatars who claimed descent from a legendary ruler named Taibuga. Around 1495 they seized power from the Shibanid khans of Tyumen and moved the capital to Qashliq on the Irtysh, founding the Khanate of Sibir. Their ruler Yadegar paid tribute to Ivan IV of Russia from 1555, but in 1563 the Shibanid Kuchum overthrew the dynasty.
