Tyumen

Also known as Chimgi-Tura

Tyumen is a city in western Siberia, Russia, on the Tura river. It stands on the site of Chimgi-Tura, a seat of the Shibanid khans and the capital of the Tyumen Khanate in the 15th century. The Russians founded a fort there in 1586, the first Russian town in Siberia, and it grew into a trading centre; in the 20th century it became the hub of the region's oil and gas industry.
