Tura River

The Tura is a river of the Urals and western Siberia in Russia, flowing east from the Ural Mountains for over 1,000 kilometres to join the Tobol. The Tatar town of Chimgi-Tura, centre of the Tyumen Khanate, stood on its banks, and the Russians founded Tyumen on the site in 1586. The river became part of the route by which Russian traders and settlers travelled into Siberia.
