Talos
Talos is a bronze giant of Greek mythology who guarded Crete, striding around the island three times a day and hurling stones at approaching ships. In the story of the Argonauts he was killed when Medea caused the single vein that held his life to be opened at the ankle. He appears on coins of Phaistos and on painted vases, notably the Talos krater from Ruvo.
