Tamesna
Tamesna is the historical name of the Atlantic coastal plain of Morocco between the Bou Regreg river at Salé and Rabat and the Oum Er-Rbia river. From the 8th century it was the heartland of the Barghawata, whose state was destroyed by the Almoravids and Almohads. The Almohads and later dynasties resettled it with Arab tribes, and it corresponds largely to the modern Chaouia region.
