Teesta River
The Teesta is a river that rises in the Himalayas of Sikkim and flows south through West Bengal into Bangladesh, where it joins the Brahmaputra (Jamuna). About 414 km long, it marked the eastern limit of Gorkha expansion in the late 18th century and the western edge of the Koch kingdom of Cooch Behar. Sharing its waters remains a long-running issue between India and Bangladesh.
