Thado Minbya

1345–1367 · 14th century

Thado Minbya was the founder of the Ava kingdom in Upper Burma. After Shan raiders sacked Pinya and Sagaing in 1364, he reunited the two courts and in 1365 founded a new capital at Ava, at the meeting of the Irrawaddy and Myitnge rivers. Ava remained the main power of Upper Burma for some two centuries.
