Tore Hund

fl. 1030 · 11th century · Also known as Þórir hundr

Tore Hund was a powerful chieftain of Bjarkøy in Hålogaland, northern Norway, in the early 11th century, who traded with the Bjarmians of the White Sea. An opponent of King Olaf II, he fought in the peasant army that defeated and killed Olaf at the Battle of Stiklestad in 1030, and the sagas say he dealt the king one of his fatal wounds. He later went on pilgrimage to Jerusalem.
