Lofoten
Lofoten is an archipelago off the coast of Nordland in northern Norway, inside the Arctic Circle, known for its steep mountains and sheltered bays. For over a thousand years it has been the centre of the winter cod fishery, whose dried stockfish was exported south through Bergen to the rest of Europe. At Borg archaeologists found the largest known Viking Age chieftain's longhouse.
