Toxandria
Toxandria was a region of the late Roman Empire between the Meuse and the Scheldt, in the present-day Campine of Belgium and the Netherlands, named after the Texuandri people. Salian Franks settled there in the 4th century, and in 358 the Caesar Julian accepted their submission and allowed them to stay as federates. The area became an early base of Frankish power in the Low Countries.
