Treaty of Ganja

1735 · 18th century

The Treaty of Ganja was an agreement concluded in 1735 between Russia and Iran, then effectively under the control of Nader. Under its terms Russia returned the remaining Caspian territories it had occupied during the collapse of Safavid rule. Accounts of the Afsharid Empire cite it, together with the Treaty of Resht of 1732, as part of Nader's recovery of Iranian territory before he proclaimed himself Shah.
