Treaty of Knäred
The Treaty of Knäred, signed on 20 January 1613, ended the Kalmar War between Denmark-Norway and Sweden. Sweden gave up its claims in the far north of Norway and agreed to pay a ransom of one million riksdaler for the return of Älvsborg, its only port on the North Sea, which Christian IV had taken.
