Kalmar War
The Kalmar War was fought between Denmark-Norway and Sweden from 1611 to 1613. Christian IV attacked to assert Danish dominance in Scandinavia and to stop Swedish expansion in the Arctic north. Danish forces took Kalmar and Älvsborg, and the Treaty of Knäred forced Sweden to pay a large ransom for Älvsborg, its only outlet to the west. It was Denmark's last clear victory over Sweden.
