Treaty of Tübingen

1514 · 16th century · Also known as Tübingen Treaty

The Treaty of Tübingen was an agreement of 8 July 1514 between Duke Ulrich of Württemberg and the estates of his duchy, made during the Poor Conrad revolt. The estates took over the duke's debts in return for the right to approve taxes and wars and guarantees of personal liberties. It became the foundation of Württemberg's constitution and limited ducal power until the early nineteenth century.
