Trekboers
The Trekboers were semi-nomadic, Dutch-speaking livestock farmers who moved beyond the settled districts of the Cape Colony in the 18th century. They took over grazing land from Khoikhoi and San communities and pushed the frontier east, where they came into conflict with the Xhosa along the Fish River. They are among the ancestors of the Afrikaners and the later Voortrekkers.
