Ugandan Bush War

1981–1986 · 20th century · Also known as Luwero War

The Ugandan Bush War was the guerrilla war waged by Yoweri Museveni's National Resistance Army against the second government of Milton Obote and then the military regime of Tito Okello. Fighting centred on the Luwero Triangle north of Kampala, where many civilians were killed. The NRA took Kampala in January 1986 and Museveni became president.
