Uhtua
Uhtua, now called Kalevala, is a village in the north of the Republic of Karelia in Russia, on Lake Middle Kuyto. Many of the folk poems that Elias Lönnrot used for the Kalevala were collected in the surrounding White Sea Karelia region. In 1919–1920 it was the seat of the Finnish-backed Provisional Government of East Karelia, and it was renamed Kalevala in 1963.
