Person
Verica
Verica was a king of the Atrebates in southern Britain in the early 1st century CE, the last of the sons of Commius named on coins. His coinage, bearing a vine leaf and the title REX, shows close ties with Rome. Driven out around 41 or 42, probably by the Catuvellauni, he fled to Rome, and his appeal gave Claudius a pretext for the invasion of 43.
