Walloons

The Walloons are the French-speaking people of southern Belgium, named after the region of Wallonia. From the twelfth century groups of Walloons, together with Flemings and Germans, settled as privileged 'guests' in the Kingdom of Hungary, especially in and around towns such as Székesfehérvár and Eger, where they had their own quarters and liberties.
