William of Jumièges

c. 1000–after 1070 · 11th century

William of Jumièges was a monk of the Norman abbey of Jumièges and the author of the Gesta Normannorum ducum, a history of the dukes of Normandy. Building on the work of Dudo of Saint-Quentin, he continued the story to the conquest of England and presented it to William the Conqueror around 1070. His work was later extended by Orderic Vitalis and Robert of Torigni.
