Wismar Tribunal

1653 · 17th century

The Wismar Tribunal was the supreme court of appeal for Sweden's German possessions, including Swedish Pomerania, Bremen-Verden and Wismar, set up at Wismar in 1653. It replaced appeals to the courts of the Holy Roman Empire, which Sweden's territories were exempted from under the Peace of Westphalia. It moved to Stralsund after Sweden pawned Wismar in 1803.
