Stralsund

Stralsund is a port city in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany, on the Strelasund opposite the island of Rügen. Granted town rights in 1234 by Prince Wizlaw I of Rügen, it became one of the leading Hanseatic towns and gave its name to the Treaty of Stralsund of 1370, which marked the league's victory over Denmark. It withstood Wallenstein's siege in 1628 and was Swedish until 1815.
