Wittenberg
Wittenberg, officially Lutherstadt Wittenberg, is a town on the Elbe in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It was the seat of the Ascanian dukes of Saxe-Wittenberg and then of the Wettin electors of Saxony, whose University of Wittenberg was founded in 1502. There Martin Luther published his Ninety-five Theses in 1517, beginning the Reformation. Its Luther memorials are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
