Yahya ibn Ghaniya was a leader of the Banu Ghaniya, heirs of the Almoravids, who continued his brother Ali's war against the Almohad Caliphate in Ifriqiya for about half a century. Allied with Arab tribes, he took Tunis and Mahdia around 1203 and killed his former ally Qaraqush around 1212. His long campaigns ravaged the towns and countryside of Ifriqiya and Tripolitania before his death in the 1230s.
