Yashaskara

reigned 939–948 · 10th century

Yashaskara was a king of Kashmir, chosen by an assembly of Brahmins in 939 after years of strife among the palace guards and court factions that had followed the Utpala dynasty's decline. Kalhana's Rajatarangini presents him as a just ruler who restored order. After his death in 948 power soon passed to the minister Parvagupta, founder of a new dynasty.
