Yehawmilk

5th–4th century BCE · 4th century BCE

Yehawmilk was a king of Byblos under the Achaemenid Persian Empire. His stele, found in 1869 and now in the Louvre, shows him in Persian dress before the enthroned goddess Baalat Gebal, and its Phoenician inscription records the buildings he dedicated to her. It is the most important royal monument of Byblos in the Persian period.
