Abu al-Qasim Muhammad ibn Abbad
Abu al-Qasim Muhammad ibn Abbad was the qadi of Seville who founded the Abbadid dynasty. In 1023 the city's leading families expelled the Hammudid garrison and entrusted Seville to him. He ruled in the name of a pretender said to be the vanished caliph Hisham II, which lent legitimacy to his expansion, and made Seville the strongest taifa of the west before his death in 1042.
