Alexander IV of Macedon

323–c. 309 BCE · 4th century BCE

Alexander IV was the son of Alexander the Great and Roxane, born after his father's death in 323 BCE. He was proclaimed joint king with his uncle Philip III Arrhidaeus, but real power lay with the generals who fought over the empire. Held in custody at Amphipolis by Cassander, he was murdered with his mother around 310 BCE, ending the Argead dynasty.
