Almoravid Qubba

12th century · 12th century · Also known as Qubba Ba'adiyyin, Qubba Barudiyyin

The Almoravid Qubba, also known as the Qubba Ba'adiyyin, is a small domed pavilion in Marrakesh, Morocco, built in the early twelfth century under the Almoravid ruler Ali ibn Yusuf, probably as an ablutions building for his great mosque. Uncovered in 1952, it is the only intact Almoravid monument in the city, its interior dome richly carved with interlacing arches, muqarnas and plant decoration.
