Auxois
The Auxois is a hilly farming region in the north-west of the Côte-d'Or department in Burgundy, France, whose chief town is Semur-en-Auxois. Its name derives from Alesia, the Gallic stronghold on Mont Auxois. In the Middle Ages it formed one of the bailiwicks of the Duchy of Burgundy, and it is known today for cattle rearing.
