Awwam Temple
The Awwam Temple, known in Arabic as Mahram Bilqis, is the great sanctuary of the god Almaqah near Marib in Yemen. Built and enlarged from the early 1st millennium BCE, it has an oval walled enclosure and a monumental pillared hall, and its walls carry hundreds of Sabaean inscriptions. It was the main pilgrimage centre of the kingdom of Saba and is part of a World Heritage Site inscribed in 2023.
