Banu Birzal
The Banu Birzal were a Zanata Berber clan from North Africa brought to al-Andalus as soldiers by the regent al-Mansur in the late 10th century. During the civil war that destroyed the Caliphate of Córdoba they seized Carmona around 1013 and ruled it as an independent taifa, often allied with the Hammudids against Seville. Al-Mutadid of Seville took Carmona in 1067, ending their rule.
