Carmona
Carmona is a town on a ridge east of Seville in Andalusia, Spain. An ancient settlement of the Tartessians and Romans, it was a fortified town of al-Andalus, held by the Banu Hajjaj in the late 9th century and the centre of the Birzalid taifa in the 11th century. Ferdinand III of Castile took it in 1247, and its Roman necropolis and Moorish gates survive.
