Battle of Blue Waters

c. 1362 · 14th century

The Battle of Blue Waters was fought around 1362 or 1363 near the Syniukha river, a tributary of the Southern Bug in present-day Ukraine, between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania under Algirdas and the forces of three Tatar lords of the Golden Horde. The Lithuanian victory ended Horde control of Podolia and opened Kyiv and much of present-day Ukraine to Lithuanian expansion.
