Battle of Fehrbellin

1675 · 17th century · Part of the Scanian War

The Battle of Fehrbellin was fought on 28 June 1675 near the town of Fehrbellin, north-west of Berlin, between the army of Brandenburg under Frederick William, the Great Elector, and a Swedish army that had invaded the electorate. Brandenburg's cavalry, led in the attack by Frederick of Hesse-Homburg, defeated the Swedes. The victory ended the reputation of Swedish invincibility and raised the standing of Brandenburg-Prussia.
