Battle of Immae

272 · 3rd century

The Battle of Immae was fought in 272 near Antioch in Syria between the Roman emperor Aurelian and the army of the Palmyrene Empire under Zabdas. Aurelian's cavalry feigned flight until the heavily armoured Palmyrene horsemen were exhausted, then turned and defeated them. Aurelian then won again at Emesa, besieged Palmyra and captured Queen Zenobia.
