Borbarua
The Borbarua was a high office of the Ahom kingdom of Assam, created by King Pratap Singha in the early 17th century. Its holder, who could be drawn from outside the old Gohain families, was responsible for revenue, justice and military affairs in Upper Assam. With the Borphukan, viceroy of Lower Assam, it was one of the two great offices added to the older council of Gohains.
