Gadadhar Singha

r. 1681–1696 · 17th century · Also known as Supatphaa

Gadadhar Singha was king of the Ahom kingdom of Assam from 1681 to 1696 and founder of the Tungkhungia line of Ahom kings. Coming to power after years in which ministers made and unmade kings, he restored royal authority, expelled the Mughals from Guwahati after the Battle of Itakhuli in 1682 and fixed the western frontier at the Manas River. He also persecuted Vaishnavite satras and began a survey of the kingdom's land.
