Brescia
Brescia is a city in Lombardy, northern Italy, at the foot of the Alps. Founded as Brixia, it was the chief town of the Cenomani Gauls before becoming a Roman town, whose forum and Capitolium temple survive. A free commune in the Middle Ages, it was ruled by Venice from 1426 to 1797 and became an important centre of arms manufacture.
