British Garhwal
British Garhwal was the eastern part of the Garhwal region in the Himalaya of present-day Uttarakhand, India, annexed by the East India Company after the Anglo-Nepalese War of 1814–1816. The western part was restored to the Garhwal dynasty as Tehri Garhwal State. Administered with Kumaon, British Garhwal had its headquarters at Pauri and became Garhwal district after independence.
