Cadastral survey
A cadastral survey is a systematic record of land parcels, recording their area, ownership, use and value, usually for taxation. The Sasanian Empire replaced a harvest-share tax with a fixed land tax based on permanent cadastral surveys of cultivated area, crop type and irrigation access, a reform that persisted after the Islamic conquest. Land registration also supported the fiscal administration of the Seleucid Empire.
