Chuvash people

The Chuvash are a Turkic people of the middle Volga, most of whom live in the Chuvash Republic of Russia, with its capital at Cheboksary. Their language is the only living member of the Oghur branch of Turkic, and they are widely seen as descendants of the Volga Bulgars. Unlike their Tatar neighbours, most were converted to Orthodox Christianity under Russian rule.
