Dobruja
Dobruja is the region between the lower Danube and the Black Sea, divided between Romania in the north and Bulgaria in the south. In antiquity its coast was lined with Greek colonies such as Histria, Tomis and Callatis. In the 14th century it formed an independent principality, from whose ruler Dobrotitsa it takes its name, and it was then Ottoman until 1878. The southern part passed finally to Bulgaria in 1940.
