Egyptian hieroglyphs
Egyptian hieroglyphs were the formal writing system of ancient Egypt, using pictorial signs for sounds and words. The peace treaty between the Hittite Empire and Egypt after Kadesh survives both in Akkadian cuneiform at Hattusa and in hieroglyphs at Karnak, illustrating the diplomatic ties between the two powers.
