Elchingen

Elchingen is a municipality in the district of Neu-Ulm in Bavaria, Germany, on the Danube north-east of Ulm. Its village of Oberelchingen grew up around the Benedictine Imperial Abbey of Elchingen, founded in the 12th century, whose rebuilt church survives. In 1805 the place gave its name to the Battle of Elchingen, from which Marshal Ney took his ducal title.
