Force Intervention Brigade

2013 · 21st century · Also known as United Nations Force Intervention Brigade

The Force Intervention Brigade is a combat unit of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, authorised by the Security Council in March 2013 with a mandate to neutralise armed groups, the first UN force given such an offensive role. Made up of troops from Tanzania, South Africa and Malawi, it helped the Congolese army defeat the M23 rebellion in November 2013.
