Gepids

Also known as Gepidae

The Gepids were an East Germanic people closely related to the Goths, settled north of the lower Danube by the 3rd century. Subjects of the Huns under Attila, they led the revolt that won the Battle of Nedao in 454 and then ruled the Tisza plain and Transylvania, later taking Sirmium. Their kingdom was destroyed in 567 by the Lombards and Avars, and the survivors were absorbed into the Avar Khaganate.
