Gorgippia

Gorgippia was an ancient Greek city on the Black Sea coast east of the Kerch Strait, on the site of modern Anapa in Russia. It developed from an earlier port of the Sindi and was renamed after Gorgippus, a member of the ruling Spartocid family, in the fourth century BCE. A city of the Bosporan Kingdom, it prospered from the grain trade into the Roman period.
