Greater Khingan
The Greater Khingan is a mountain range in north-eastern China, running about 1,200 km from north to south through Inner Mongolia and Heilongjiang and separating the Mongolian Plateau from the Manchurian plain. Its forested slopes were the homeland of several nomadic and hunting peoples, among them the Xianbei, the Khitan and the Mongols.
